Led by the Library Council President, the University Library Service’s Quality Manager and the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee President, an awareness-raising training session for ELTE librarians was successfully held on 16 July 2026, with nearly 20 participants.

During the Erasmus Staff Week, Liza Németh gained a comprehensive overview of the functioning of the libraries of the University of Liège, including the organizational structure, collection management and heritage protection tasks. The program's highlights included the application of artificial intelligence in libraries, Open Science practices, and the support of the Diamond Open Access model through the BeDiamond initiative. The visit offered valuable professional experiences and inspiring good practices that can be directly used in everyday work and professional development.

On the occasion of Cultural Heritage Day, our mini exhibition presents the major turning points in the history of Eötvös Loránd University, with the help of memorabilia from the University Library and Archives. All visitors are welcome!

According to the traditions of Eötvös Loránd University, the Senate of the University presented the awards to the lecturers, employees and staff who provided excellent work and outstanding performance at the opening Senate meeting of the academic year. This year's honorees included several staff members of the University Library Service, who are committed to the cause of the university and library development.

The ELTE–NFI FILMIO University Film Club awaits you even in the summertime! We welcome university citizens from all ELTE faculties. A film presenting the football successes of the Dunaszerdahely Athletic Club (DAC 1904 FC) and its role in bringing together the Hungarian community in Upper Hungary will be screened as part of the ELTE Carpathian Basin Summer University.

Our series, titled “Mosaics from the Heritage of ELTE”, presents some of the outstanding cultural heritage of Eötvös Loránd University. The artwork of the month is the Bogen–Lipmann Cage.

The ELTE University Library and Archives’ series of therapy dog programs during exam season concluded amid great interest. As part of the initiative, more than a thousand students participated in 21 sessions featuring five therapy dogs. The program’s goal was to contribute to students’ mental well-being and provide support amid the increased stress of exam season.

Within the framework of the Cultural Heritage Days program series, calligrapher Dezső Buzogány will hold a workshop on the 19th of September, 2026 from 11:00 to 18:00 in the hall of the ELTE University Library and Archives (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.).

We adumbrate in our restoration workshop, in which you can get a taste of bookrestoration. Behind the scenes you can learn about preserving our valuable documents and experience how a sewing frame can be used in bookbinding.

With the support of the Accessible Library Working Group of the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee of the University Library Service, and under the guidance of colleagues from the ELTE Office for Special Student Affairs, on 29 June 2026, an awareness-raising training session organised for ELTE librarians was successfully held with nearly 20 participants.

In the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee’s second-quarter report for 2026, the working group leaders provided an overview of the results from the past quarter, as well as ongoing work and changes.

During the Cultural Heritage Day, visitors are invited to create individual bookmarks in our second floor Boardroom.

On Cultural Heritage Day, our visitors can use our library jigsaw puzzle to build the library palace, assemble our codex pages from their fragments, and display images related to gastronomy and the works of Mór Jókai.

On Saturday, the 19th of September 2026, as part of the Cultural Heritage Days, we will open our library doors to the public again.

The members of the ELTE Heritage Coordination held their first coordinators' day of the year on June 24, 2026, in Göd, at the Huzella Garden, with fifteen participants, including new members. The program began with a professional meeting, then they took part in a meaningful historical walk and museum visit led by László Papp, where they could learn about the past of the place and the Huzella family. The event was not only professionally useful, but also strengthened community building, and new connections and inspiring collaborations were created.

The Reading Hall will be closed on Thursday, 25 June 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. due to technical reasons.

According to our tradition, this year we joined the Night of Museums series of events, which featured the exhibition MTA 200 – Academicians at the university along with craft workshops, concerts, guided tours of the building, exhibitions, animated film screenings, calligraphy workshop, recipe collection, adventure game and restoration workshop presentations.

The 2026 edition of the Journal Citation Reports™ (JCR) provides the global research community with trusted, transparent metrics to assess journal performance and scholarly influence. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how the JCR supports informed decision-making for authors, editors, librarians, research managers, as well as best practices for responsibly using journal-level metrics, including the Journal Impact Factor (JIF), available in JCR profiles along with descriptive open access and contributor information. The session will conclude with practical examples and a live Q&A.
