High-ranking university leaders visited our library on 20 March 2026, led by Dr. Gábor Zemplén, Vice Rector for International Affairs, and Dr. Judit Mádlné Szőnyi, Vice Rector for General Affairs.

The ELTE Heritage Coordination team, organized by Bianka Kovács-Molnár, paid a professional visit to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences building, where we toured the exhibitions titled “Canon, Memory, Cult” and „The Treasures of the 200-Year-Old Academy” together, guided by curator Zsuzsa Sidó.

The second in Clarivate's English-language webinar series for PhD students presents methods for effective literature searches and research news tracking. In the presentation on 23 March 2026, Jamal EL OUAHI will explain how bibliometric databases, citation networks, and automated notifications can be used to support research activities. The series consists of five interconnected parts, which can be accessed independently and require prior registration.

The aim of the János Ujvári Diploma Award is to help students approaching the end of their higher education studies to examine the topic of their diploma thesis from an intellectual property protection perspective, with appropriate professional support, and to map out the intellectual property protection aspects and protectability possibilities of the topic they have chosen.

The launch of Florencia Horváth’s autobiographically inspired poetry collection "Hiátus" took place amid great interest on 10 March 2026 at the ELTE ULA Savaria Library and Archives. Student Viktória Málics spoke with the author about the collection’s intimate, lyrical world. Students Eszter Noémi Nagy and Kamilla Szabó contributed to the program with poetry readings. The event was organized by the Department of Hungarian Literary Studies at ELTE, with a special focus on promoting local literary talent and supporting their careers.

Springer Nature is hosting a webinar titled „From Indexing to Impact” on 19 March 2026, to help researchers better understand research evaluation systems and the social impact of scientific work. The event will cover several important topics, from the importance of indexing to ethical issues and recent developments, and participation is required.

Our series, titled „Mosaics from the Heritage of ELTE”, presents some of the outstanding cultural heritage of Eötvös Loránd University. The artwork of the month is the wrought iron railing at the entrance to ELTE Trefort Ágoston Practice High School.

The Department of Hungarian Literature at ELTE Savaria University Centre will present Horváth's poetry collection Florencia „Hiatus” on March 10 at 3 p.m. at the ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives. University student Viktória Málics will be in conversation with the author, and all visitors are welcome.

Dr. Zsuzsanna Mikó, Deputy Director General of the Hungarian National Archives, and Dr. Balázs Czetz, Deputy Director General of Collections, visited the ELTE University Library and Archives on 4 March 2026, with several of their colleagues for a professional exchange and knowledge sharing.

Emerald Publishing House provides free access to two of its collections to ELTE citizens with institutional (Shibboleth) login between March 1 and April 30, 2026. The list of open journals is available on the Library and Information Studies Collection and Emerald Education pages.

Gale Publishing is providing ELTE citizens with full access to the Gale Academic OneFile database, which can be accessed with an institutional (Shibboleth) login, until 1 May 2026. The collection contains more than 19,000 journal articles from many scientific fields, including biology, medicine, economics, environmental science, psychology, and literature. The database is accessible via a direct link and offers extensive research resources for ELTE students and faculty.

Qulto held its annual professional day on February 25, 2026 at the Szabó Ervin Library in Budapest, where ELTE was represented by Research Support Librarian Tibor Móring with a presentation that aroused great interest. The presentation presented the results and goals of the curriculum repository subproject, with a special emphasis on the archiving, organization and reusability of digital curriculum materials, as well as the upload and visibility options offered to educators. The presentation also addressed the unique features of the repository, tailored to curriculum management, and how it can support collaboration and knowledge sharing among educators.

In the framework of the Sustainability Week and the Green Bridge Volunteer Expert Program, we welcome elementary and secondary school groups to visit the ELTE University Library and Archives for green library presentations.

The volume "Commemorative Medals and Plaques from the Collections of Eötvös Loránd University" has been published, presenting more than 500 pieces related to the history of the university with rich images and detailed descriptions. The material from the eight collections traces a diverse historical arc from the end of the 18th century to the present day, with medals related to jubilee, scientific history and university events. The book is a valuable publication from the perspectives of numismatics, cultural history and university history, edited by museologist Georgina Schlay.

Wiley is hosting an English-language webinar for researchers, faculty and students from EISZ consortium member institutions, providing practical guidance on successful Open Access publishing. Participants will learn about the benefits of Open Access publishing, the opportunities provided by the Wiley Read & Publish agreement, and receive advanced tips from manuscript preparation to the review process. The event will conclude with a Q&A session, and participation is subject to prior registration.
