Our series, titled “Mosaics from the Heritage of ELTE”, presents some of the outstanding cultural heritage of Eötvös Loránd University. The artwork of the month is the Commemorative Plaque for Academician Dr. József Fülöp.

Based on recommendations from the ISAC (International Student Advisory Committee), we’ve transformed the BoYL community space – originally created as part of an inclusion project for international students – into a student-centered, inclusive community space that supports mental well-being, expanding it with new areas that offer a variety of opportunities for all our visitors to recharge.

Next to our short film screening on the grand staircase of the ELTE University Library and Archives, an interactive exhibition has opened, showcasing the one-and-a-half-century history and unique episodes of the historic library palace.

On the occasion of the Cultural Heritage Days, we are waiting for young and old, children and adults alike with special surprises.

Our guided tours focus on the history of the ELTE University Library and Archives, gaining insight into the documents featured in the exhibition “Knowledge Preserved Within Walls – One and a Half Centuries of the University Library Building.”

On the occasion of Cultural Heritage Day, on 19 September 2026 at 5.00 pm, clarinettist Zsolt Szigeti and bassoonist Attila Ambrózy will give a concert in the Grand Reading Hall of the ELTE University Library and Archives.

The ELTE–NFI FILMIO University Film Club’s series of screenings and discussions continues. We welcome students from all ELTE faculties.

EBSCO is offering a one-month trial access to some of its databases. The access gives ELTE citizens the opportunity to directly access the collections and to learn how journals are indexed, presented, and displayed.

The ELTE University Film Club, with the support of the National Cultural Fund (NKA) and the Hungarian Documentary Filmmakers’ Association (MADOKE), is launching a screening series of documentary films by Hungarian filmmakers. The next screening will feature Tamás Almási’s 1995 film „Barren”.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Library Palace’s opening, an exhibition is launching at the ELTE University Library and Archives.

LIBER AI Pulse is an English-language webinar series that addresses current AI topics relevant to research libraries in the form of short, practical presentations. The fall sessions will address AI-related copyright issues and the importance of developing AI literacy and library competencies.

The webinar will demonstrate how to measure the societal, innovation and policy impact of research beyond citation indicators. Participants will learn about new data sources and metrics that can be used to track the practical application of scientific results.

On 27 August 2026, the ELTE University Library and Archives hosted the 14th conference entitled “Traditions and Challenges.” This year's programme featured roundtable discussions and presentations on the themes of “The Challenges of the New Library Strategy,” “Library Architecture Then and Now,” and “The Library Beyond the Collection.”

The ELTE University Library and Archives hosted international students on 3 September 2026 as part of the international orientation week.

The ELTE University Library and Archives is organising a commemorative conference on September 17, 2026, to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Library Palace. (The conference will be held in Hungarian.) All visitors are welcome!

Led by the Library Council President, the University Library Service’s Quality Manager and the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee President, an awareness-raising training session for ELTE librarians was successfully held on 16 July 2026, with nearly 20 participants.

During the Erasmus Staff Week, Liza Németh gained a comprehensive overview of the functioning of the libraries of the University of Liège, including the organizational structure, collection management and heritage protection tasks. The program's highlights included the application of artificial intelligence in libraries, Open Science practices, and the support of the Diamond Open Access model through the BeDiamond initiative. The visit offered valuable professional experiences and inspiring good practices that can be directly used in everyday work and professional development.
