programok

As a part of our book launch, you can gain insight into the special publications of our library, during which the secrets of our old printed matters are revealed. The program is announced on major open days of the library; however, if it is required, we also organize book launches at pre-arranged times. Minimum group size: 4 people, requires prior scheduling – kabinet@lib.elte.hu.
The library maintains its own binder’s workshop and book restoration workshop. The techniques of working in the workshop, the use of paper pulp and the sewing of sheets can become acquainted with on important open days of the library, as well as on other occasions after preliminary consultation. Minimum group size: 4 people, requires prior scheduling – kabinet@lib.elte.hu.
The library palace is an eclectic building designed by Antal Szkalnitzky and it was built in 1876. The walls of the palace’s Reading Hall are decorated with frescoes by Károly Lotz and a portrait of Franz Joseph I by Mór Than. The lobby, the staircase and the Reading Hall are open to the public with audioguide tour during opening hours. Based on preliminary registration, we also provide the opportunity for guided building tours in Hungarian and in foreign languages. During these tours, the Historic monument store, and the reconstruction of László Perczel’s globe will also be presented.
